New Studio at The Creator Incubator

It’s been a big year for me. I sold my flat in Sydney and hit the road to find somewhere new to live. The goal was somewhere I could afford to live while having enough left over to join a collective art space and focus on my practice.

Newcastle was the obvious choice. It has a growing arts community, it’s close enough to Sydney and the family and friends I have there, and it’s still kind of affordable.

After a few weeks settling into my new home in New Lambton, I managed to secure a big studio space at the heart of Newcastle’s arts community, at The Creator Incubator in Hamilton North.

I move in on 1 October and I’m really looking forward to meeting the other artists, becoming part of the creative community there and, importantly, having a dedicated space to push my work further. I’ll also be opening the studio for workshops for anyone interested in learning the basics of abstract painting and exploring some of the materials, techniques and processes I use in my own practice.

There’s already plenty of new work underway, so keep an eye on the socials — and an ear out for news of an exhibition sometime in the next 6–12 months.

It feels like the beginning of a new chapter for my work, and I’m excited to see where it leads.
