I often stumble upon fallen eucalyptus leaves during my walks. They have a very distinct aesthetic which inspired the texture and composition of this piece.
The colours obviously have a lot more pop than a decomposing leaf. This came from a desire to bring more colour and contrast to my work, which has been more neutral over recent years.
